The 19th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies won their third straight game on Tuesday afternoon against Radford

After taking three out of four over this past weekend on the road at Nevada, the newly-minted 19th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies returned home to English Field at Union Park to take on local foe Radford on Tuesday afternoon.

With the help of home runs by Ryan Tufts, JD Mundy, and Joe Freiday, Jr., the Hokies were powered to a 9-7 victory over the visiting Highlanders. It is the seventh time in nine games that the Hokies have scored eight or more runs, and the eighth game in which the Hokies have scored seven runs or more.

Tufts and Mundy both notched multi-hit games, with three hits and two hits, respectively, while outfielder Tom Stoffel collected three more hits to raise his batting average to an even .300 on the season.

Scheetz pitched three innings and struck out two in the victory, while Aaron McGarity picked up his third save of the campaign, striking out two of his four batters faced in the ninth inning to clinch the win.

The Hokies are now off until Friday, when they welcome the Binghamton Bearcats to Blacksburg for a four-game weekend set. The Bearcats are 3-3 this season, and have won three straight games entering play on Friday afternoon.

First pitch on Friday is set for 3 PM ET, followed by a back-to-back doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday, with the finale of the series coming on Sunday at noon.
