Defensive end Trevon Hill to undergo offseason surgery, but is expected to be available for the Belk Bowl on December 29th.
Virginia Tech redshirt-freshman defensive end Trevon Hill will reportedly undergo offseason surgery, according to Hokies defensive coordinator Bud Foster.
The surgery may require Hill to miss spring practice, although it will not be known for sure until he goes under the knife after the bowl game.
At this time, it is unclear what kind of injury Hill has been playing with, but it may not be too serious, considering the fact that Foster is expecting Hill to play in the Belk Bowl against Arkansas on December 29th.
The 6’3″, 240 lbs. Hill has played in all 13 games, and has made one start for the Hokies this season. Hill has seen a majority of his game action through rotating in with Vinny Mihota at weak-side defensive end, lining up opposite of redshirt-senior Ken Ekanem.

Hill has made 33 total tackles in his first collegiate season, which includes five tackles for loss. He also has 1.5 sacks on the year and four quarterback hurries. He has undoubtedly made his presence felt in a big way this season, perhaps making a larger impact than even the coaching staff expected when the year began.
He will once again be heavily relied upon in the bowl game against the Razorbacks, even as he is playing at less than 100 percent.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Hill was ranked as a consensus top-40 defensive end by every major recruiting service as part of the Class of 2015. He is expected to compete for a starting job next season opposite of Vinny Mihota, assuming that he is healthy enough to be ready for fall camp.
