Hokies Recruiting: Dwayne Lawson Decision Preview and Prediction
By Tim Thomas
The Massive Favorite: Virginia Tech
The Virginia Tech Hokies have played a big role in the recruitment of Dwayne Lawson over the last six weeks, and are a big reason why Lawson isn’t committed to Miami anymore. The Hokies may not be in the best conference in the country, but the ACC is still a good conference that had some success this past season.

One thing that definitely helps the Hokies is the potential for Lawson to play very early as he could even have a chance at the starting quarterback job during fall practice. Early playing time seems very important to Lawson, and Virginia Tech should be able to give him that if he can prove he is worthy of it.
Virginia Tech also has tons of great fans unlike Miami which has some hardcore fans, but not nearly as many as Virginia Tech. Lawson seems to really enjoy Lane Stadium and based on how soon he decommitted after his official visit to Virginia Tech, this seems to be a fairly big factor.
Lawson would also be guaranteed to play a couple of games in Florida which can be a factor for recruits if they are looking at schools away from their home state or nearby area. Most importantly, Lawson and Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler seem to have a great player-coach relationship.
There is no doubt that the Hokies are the heavy favorites to get Lawson.
