Wake Forest and Ole Miss
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons were a surprise team to receive an official visit from Lawrence Cager while the Ole Miss Rebels were a surprise inclusion in the top five for Cager. Both teams have different teams that make both of these options intriguing, but neither team seems like a serious contender to get Cager.
Wake Forest did receive an official visit from Cager, but their on the field struggles definitely have to be hurting especially with all the top programs that are on this list. Dave Clawson is in what will be a slow and steady rebuilding process that will take three or four years which doesn’t help in many recruiting battles.
Cager would have the potential to start immediately in Winston Salem, but it is extremely unlikely Cager ends up with the Demon Deacons.
Ole Miss was a surprise inclusion by Cager in his top 5, and that has seemed to be proven to be more true over the last couple of weeks. Cager has the potential to get some early playing time at Ole Miss, but that definitely does not seem certain.
On top of that, Ole Miss is not great in terms of proximity to home and has a lot of uncertainty at QB. Ole Miss has put up a good late effort, but the Rebels are definitely out of the hunt now.
