Prediction: Virginia Tech

This has been a very crazy recruiting battle and the Hokies have had their fair share of failures recruiting highly rated four and five-star recruits. The Hokies have been beat out in the past couple of months for Josh Sweat and Jalen Dalton, but the Hokies will succeed and get Tim Settle.

The proximity to home advantage seems to be a factor for Settle and that will help the Hokies significantly even though Northern Virginia is about four hours away from Blacksburg. The pedigree of Virginia Tech defenses being around the best in college football will also help along with how Bud Foster just received a new five-year contract that pays him what he has been deserving of.

At Virginia Tech, Settle will also receive some more time to develop while also having the potential to work his way into getting some snaps by the end of the season. Settle has also seen how other elite recruits like Kendall Fuller have had plenty of success in Blacksburg.

Louisville and USC are definitely still strong threats to end up beating the Hokies for Settle, but this seems like a big recruiting battle that Virginia Tech will win. The one thing that could be an x-factor in hurting the Hokies’ chances is how long will Frank Beamer be in Blacksburg especially after having throat surgery before the Military Bowl, and Beamer being 68 years old.

All three of these teams have a chance, but Hokie Nation will be the one that get good news from Settle.
