The Second Choice Favorite: Florida State

Florida State hasn’t lost a game since 2012 and that definitely has to have a big impact on Josh Sweat even if the main reason for that is Jameis Winston who will likely enter the 2015 NFL Draft. The Seminoles will be hoping to hear some good news tomorrow that they have poached another player from the Virginia Beach area after getting Derrick Nnadi last February.

The Seminoles will be able to give Sweat a chance to get some rotational minutes, while the defensive scheme is a good fit for Sweat. The Seminoles’ recent success also helps, while Florida State has done a great job of putting players in the NFL with some strong defenses in the past few seasons. Also, the Seminoles will play a lot of schools near Sweat’s home which seems to be a big factor in Sweat’s decision.

Florida State has a solid defensive coordinator in Charles Kelly but he doesn’t have the same pedigree as Virginia Tech’s Bud Foster or Georgia’s Jeremy Pruitt. Florida State does have ace recruiter Sal Sunseri leading the charge which definitely has been a boost for the Seminoles in this process.

Florida State is arguably the favorite but based on certain factors, the Seminoles seem like the second choice favorite to get Sweat. However, they definitely have a very good chance to end up getting the five-star defensive end. The one thing that makes them even more intriguing is the fact that they were the final ones to take an in-home visit with Sweat.
