Entering the game against Miami, Corey Marshall looked like a player that the Hokies were going to need to rely on with Luther Maddy once again out. There was confidence that Marshall would get the job done in this game and help lead the Hokies to a big Thursday Night victory over the Miami Hurricanes.
Instead, Marshall struggled in a blowout loss to Miami in which the Hokies gave up 364 rushing yards which is the most rushing yards allowed by a Virginia Tech defense in the Frank Beamer era. Marshall’s struggles were the worst of the defensive line with the redshirt junior having only one tackle in what was a nightmare of a game for him and the team.

The question now is whether Marshall will bounce back this week against Boston College?
This will not be an easy matchup for Marshall especially with the experience of the Boston College offensive line. This is a tougher matchup for Marshall and one of the keys for Marshall will likely be to create space for Deon Clarke and Derek Di Nardo to blitz Tyler Murphy and force him to rush his decisions.
Marshall’s struggles last week should give him a chip on his shoulder to step up this week and prove that he is still a dangerous defensive tackle who is explosive off the line and can be a quality pass rusher. This game could be where we get to see the toughness of Marshall and his ability to bounce back after a really bad game against Miami.
Corey Marshall has proven to be a good defensive tackle and it wouldn’t surprise me if Marshall has a bounce back game this week with 4 or 5 tackles and at least 1 tackle for loss in this game against Boston College. However, we’ll just have to see if Marshall can bounce back and have a good game against Boston College.
