The Virginia Tech Hokies have a couple of tight ends in their recruiting class for this season and a wide receiver committed from the Class of 2016 but currently lack wide receiver commits from the Class of 2015. The Hokies already hosted WR Tavin Richardson on a visit but Kentucky and Pittsburgh seem like the favorites for Richardson.
However, the Hokies have another wide receiver in which Virginia Tech seems like one of the top four contenders for.
Three-star wide receiver Lawrence Cager of Calvert Hall College School in Towson, Maryland is the wide receiver that the Hokies will receive an official visit from on November 1st, the weekend when the Hokies play Boston College, as listed by 247 Sports.
Virginia Tech is one of the four schools that will receive an official visit from Cager with the other three schools being Alabama, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. Cager will visit those three schools on consecutive weekends starting with Ohio State at the end of November and ending with Alabama on the second weekend of December.
Ohio State is seen as the favorites for Cager with Alabama and Notre Dame being the top chasers. This is a situation where the Hokies seem like the underdog but nothing can be ruled out. Aaron Moorehead has done a good job recruiting wide receivers and could be able to pull off a big comeback.
Cager has tons of upside at 6-5 and around 202 pounds which is why so many are interested in this three-star wide receiver. It is hard to find receivers with that type of season and his 40 yard dash time of 4.70 as listed on his 247 Sports page is good enough for now for someone of his size. Cager had 7 touchdowns as a junior in high school and the tape proves that he knows how to use his size to his advantage which can make him a valuable receiver on jump balls.
Lawrence Cager has huge potential and the Hokies have a shot at getting the 6-5 wide receiver.
