Buzz Williams is already building the foundation for a very strong recruiting class in his first full recruiting cycle in Blacksburg. The Hokies were able to gain the commitment of 4-star power Kerry Blackshear recently and the Hokies’ Class of 2015 might grow once again this weekend.

The Hokies have been in hot pursuit of three-star point guard Justin Robinson and with Maryland falling out of the mix, Virginia Tech is in a great position but still has one competitior.

Robinson apparently will announce on Sunday rather than Saturday as this tweet states but it is apparently down to the Hokies and the Providence Friars for the 3-star point guard. Robinson is from Manassas, Virginia and attends St. James School in the state of Maryland.

Getting a guy like Robinson could be big in the pursuit of another guy from the Mid-Atlantic, four-star shooting guard Chris Clarke. Robinson is also a quality player himself as he is rated as the 22nd best point guard by 247 Spots and 36th best by ESPN.

Today, Buzz Williams and his staff were making a big push before his announcement on Sunday.

The Hokies are seen as the favorites for Robinson by 247 Sports with 88% in the 247 Sports Crystal Ball going with the Hokies to get Robinson over Providence. However, the Friars have done a solid job of recruiting and also had a lot of success last season including winning the Big East Tournament and playing in the NCAA Tournament.

Virginia Tech is a finalist for Robinson and I think Buzz Williams will get Robinson’s commitment Sunday.

Update 9:14pm: Chris Horne of TechSideline.com reports that Virginia Tech, Providence, and UNLV are the three finalists for Justin Robinson. The Hokies are still the favorites to gain his commitment.
