The Virginia Tech Hokies have seen a lot of talented true freshman on the football field with Isaiah Ford, Shai McKenzie, and Marshawn Williams earning significant playing time already as true freshman. Meanwhile, there are some other true freshman athletes that are making big impacts in other sports for the Hokies.

One of those athletes is women’s soccer forward Alani Johnson.

Johnson has gotten off to a very strong start to her season for the third-ranked Hokies’ women’s soccer team as she has four goals and 2 assists already despite not making a single start yet for the Hokies. However, some of the other numbers show that she has some huge star potential not just now but in the long run for the Hokies.

Johnson has had 8 total shots with 6 on goal and 4 in the back of the net which works out for an impressive 50% goals per shot average. This will be a very hard if not impossible stat to maintain but this is just proof of how prolific of a forward Johnson can be. Also, Johnson has done all this despite averaging just less than 35 minutes per game.

Alani Johnson is making a big impact for the Hokies’ women’s soccer team in her freshman year and is looking like a long-term star.
