A few days ago, one of the key players for the Maryland Terripans, point guard Seth Allen, announced his decision to transfer. Early on, three teams stood out as the main contenders to get Seth Allen with NC State, Virginia, and the Virginia Tech Hokies all over the Maryland point guard. Allen has examined all three of these ACC programs and has now made his decision on where he will be playing college basketball in the future and it’s a decision that will please many.

Seth Allen has made the decision to commit to the Virginia Tech Hokies and this is big for Virginia Tech to poach a transfer from a former ACC program. Seth Allen came out of Fredericksburg Christian High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia so this is a Virginia guy that makes a return to his home state. Seth Allen will not be eligible to play next season but he definitely helps the Hokies as Buzz Williams continues to strengthen the Virginia Tech basketball program. Here’s the main reason for Allen’s decision to join the Hokies in this tweet.

Allen will most likely be the backup for Devin Wilson for a couple of years though Allen has the talent to compete and gain some time in the Virginia Tech backcourt. Allen averaged over 13 points this past season and while many people would see him as someone that would battle for playing time at point guard, Allen could play with Wilson in the backcourt due to Allen’s scoring ability and Wilson’s more traditional point guard skill set. Seth Allen is also a solid 3-point shooter so Allen will bring that to the Hokies also and is a very good addition for Virginia Tech.
