The Virginia Tech Hokies had one of the best defenses in all of college football and part of that was due to the leadership and play of linebacker Jack Tyler. The former walk-on proved to be a hard worker that came out of nowhere from his arrival to being a very successful Hokie. Now, Jack Tyler is looking towards the NFL and is hoping along with many other players to get drafted. Of course, Tyler will get an opportunity even if he isn’t drafted but the honor of being drafted is something that every player wants.

Currently, the highly successful Hokie linebacker seems to be on the bubble of being a NFL Draft pick or signing with a team as an undrafted free agent. However, Jack Tyler has proven himself as a player that absolutely should be selected in the 2014 NFL Draft.

One of the things that NFL teams look for in an inside linebacker is a player that has great instincts. Jack Tyler has shown throughout his career at Virginia Tech that his instincts are quite strong and ready for the NFL. Tyler seems to always find a way to get in the hole and make a tackle as proven by his 93 tackles this past season.

Jack Tyler also is a solid pass rushing linebacker that can rush the passer on the occassional blitz and get pressure. Tyler had 4 sacks this season which is solid for an inside linebacker in a league that has seemed to incorporate more 3-4 inside linebacker blitzes. This also shows the instincts of Tyler in a league where players that have quality football instincts can do quite well.

Lastly, Jack Tyler is a very good leader and the type of player that you want in command of a defense at inside linebacker. Inside linebacker has always been a position that requires a very good leader and Jack Tyler has proven that throughout his Virginia Tech career as shown by him being a co-captain this past season. Jack Tyler has the above-average instincts and leadership that should make him a solid football player and a 2014 NFL Draft pick.
