Devonte Graham seemed headed to Appalachian State a year ago but a feud between the former coaches and Graham has led to a wild year. Former Appalachian State head coach Jason Capel felt that Graham was being tampered by NC State after Graham signed his National Letter of Intent and Graham was so frustrated that he decided to enroll at Brewster Academy this year instead of Appalachian State. However, new Appalachian State head coach Jason Fox released Graham from his National Letter of Intent and Graham is now one of the top available players and is basically a normal recruit and not a transfer.
Virginia Tech lacked depth behind Devin Wilson last season at point guard and Buzz Williams is already targeting Graham who could played a decent-sized role backing up the All-ACC Freshman Wilson if he comes to Blacksburg. However, Graham has shrunk his list of teams to five as tweeted by his head coach at Brewster Academy Jason Smith and Virginia Tech fans should be happy about one team that is on this list.
Virginia Tech needs depth at point guard and Graham would definitely provide that for the All-ACC Freshman Wilson as mentioned earlier. Graham would be a big pickup by Buzz Williams but the Hokies do not have very good odds as Kansas seems to be the frontrunner after the Jayhawks received the first visit. NC State also seems right at the top of the list but as long as the Hokies are on this list, Buzz Williams will get his chance to bring Devonte Graham to Virginia Tech. The question is can he pull it off?
