Former Texas Tech QB Michael Brewer initially wanted to stay in the state of Texas and transfer to either Texas or TCU but the Red Raiders would not allow him to transfer within the Big 12 so Brewer had to continue searching for a new school. Rumors started this week about Michael Brewer looking at Virginia Tech before the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that Brewer was going to take a visit to Blacksburg this weekend. It seemed likely entering the weekend that Michael Brewer would transfer to Virginia Tech but today everybody got their answer as Michael Brewer announced via Twitter that he would be transferring to Virginia Tech.
Michael Brewer will graduate at the end of the spring semester and therefore will be eligible to play immediately for the Hokies which is a big boost. The addition of Brewer adds more intrigue to a quarterback battle that all of a sudden has 5 quarterbacks likely involved. Mark Leal now seems like a guy that could end up changing positions if he doesn’t win the starting quarterback job while it seems likely that at least one of the two freshman quarterbacks get redshirted with the possibility that Chris Durkin and Andrew Ford both are redshirted. We will have more analysis of the Virginia Tech quarterback situation either today or tomorrow.
