It was not an ordinary ride home for Virginia Tech’s kicker Cody Journell following the win against Georgia Tech. Journell, who missed a 25 yard field goal in the game, received threats. He received multiple calls from blocked numbers threatening him due to his play on the field this season. The incident was reported to the police, and Journell has also reportedly changed his phone number.

Despite the unfortunate incident, Journell is moving on from it. He said,

"if you let it bother you too much, then they accomplished what they want, I think it motivates me more than anything. I honestly feel more comfortable on the field than I do being out in public or whatever.”[Quote from washingtonpost.com]"

It is a great sign that he is moving on from what happened and using it as motivation. The fifth-year senior seems to be handling the situation like a man, and is not going to let it bother him. There is plenty of time left in the season for Journell to find his form, and help the Hokies. Currently on the season, he is 3 for 6 on field goals, and 10 for 11 on extra points. Hopefully Cody Journell will be back to himself and use his emotions as momentum heading into Saturday’s contest against North Carolina.
