Dorian Finney-Smith Will Transfer To Florida
By Ty Hodges
It has been known for some time that Dorian Finney-Smith would be leaving Blacksburg in favor of another school, but we finally have confirmation of where exactly he’ll end up.
The lucky recipient of Doe-Doe (Dorian Finney-Smith’s nickname) will be the University of Florida. As a true freshman Dorian Finney-Smith led the Hokies in rebounding with 7 rebounds per game, and was fifth in team scoring with 6.3 points per game. Finney-Smith had his fair share of struggles during the season offensively, but there’s no doubt that he could have developed into a good player at Virginia Tech.
Some people have speculated the real reason for Finney-Smith’s departure from Virginia Tech but the real reason for his leaving all came down to comfort; Finney-Smith was never comfortable at Virginia Tech. Finney-Smith never found his comfort zone within Blacksburg as a town, and he never found his comfort zone within the makeup of the team. Because of this, it was time to make a change.
Doe-Doe won’t be eligible to play until the 2013-14 season for Florida due to NCAA transfer rules. We wish Dorian Finney-Smith the best of luck down in Florida.
