Buzz Williams and the Virginia Tech Hokies have gotten off to a strong start with recruiting for the Class of 2015 and it started with the addition of 4-star power forward Kerry Blackshear. Then the Hokies were able to get 3-star point guard Justin Robinson as the second piece of a strong start to the Hokies’ Class of 2015.
Now, the Hokies have a chance to make another big addition.
Chris Clarke is a four-star shooting guard from Cape Henry Collegiate School in Virginia Beach, Virginia though Clarke also has the skills and size to play at small forward in college. Both 247 Sports and ESPN rank Clarke as the best prospect from the state of Virginia. Clarke is ranked as the 63rd best player by ESPN and the 60th best player by the 247 Sports Composite.

Clarke is a big time prospect and the Hokies are one of four finalists along with Connecticut, Tennessee, and Creighton. Creighton seems like the big long shot and unlikely to get Clarke while Connecticut seems to have lost momentum and is probably the third choice at this point.
Tennessee’s new head coach Donnie Tyndall has led a big surge for Clarke and the Volunteers seem to have the second best chance to get Clarke. The Volunteers’ recent success has to be making a big time appeal with the success they had in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
However, the Virginia Tech Hokies enter as the favorite for Clarke today with Buzz Williams doing a great job recruiting so far. Getting the best player in Virginia would be a huge pickup in Virginia and would be a sign of changing times for the growing buzz that is surrounding Virginia Tech basketball.
We will know very soon whether the Hokies will get Chris Clarke or whether Tennessee, Connecticut, or Creighton will poach Clarke from the state of Virginia. Personally, I think the Hokies will gain their third commit from Clarke.
