Isaac Chew follows Buzz Williams to Virginia Tech

It has been weeks since Buzz Williams was hired by Virginia Tech but the Hokies had not made any announcements on who else would be joining Williams in Blacksburg. There has been a lot of speculation about Williams bringing multiple of his assistants from Marquette to Virginia Tech though people were unsure if those coaches might just end up staying assistants at Marquette. Virginia Tech now has finally made an announcement about an assistant.

The Hokies have reached a deal that will bring one of Buzz Williams’s former assistants from Marquette in Isaac Chew to Virginia Tech. Here is the tweet that broke the news about Chew agreeing to a deal to join Buzz Williams in Blacksburg.

This tweet also brings up the point about how good of a recruiter that Isaac Chew is and that is another benefit for the Hokies. Chew could also be a valuable asset for Buzz Williams in the pursuit of point guard Devonte Graham and other players for the Class of 2015 especially since some of the top high school basketball powerhouses are right in the Hokies’ backyard. Chew is a valuable addition as Buzz Williams starts to build what is already looking like a very strong staff.
