Christmas is less than 10 days away and Frank Beamer has been getting plenty of good news over the first 16 days of the month of December about players committing to Virginia Tech whether it was from the Class fo 2014 or the Class of 2015. The Hokies have been building a very good base for the Class of 2015 while continuing to improve a very deep Class of 2014 which seems to get deeper every second.  The Hokies have been making some noise over the past few weeks in recruiting and that continued with an interesting decision that may intrigue Class of 2014 quarterback Andrew Ford.

Three-Star quarterback Chris Durkin has committed to Virginia Tech.

The top schools that had actually offered the quarterback from Youngstown, Ohio were Big 10 schools so this is a big steal for Virginia Tech to take a 3-star recruit out of the middle of Big 10 recruiting territory. Durkin is a pocket passer which is the same as Andrew Ford so this makes an interesting headline for the Hokies and sets up the potential for a three-way quarterback battle between Durkin, Ford, and current backup Mark Leal. Durkin is a very good addition to the Class of 2014 and increases competition at quarterback.
