Former Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick, who is now playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, is off to a great start this season. The Eagles brought in new head coach Chip Kelly, and Mike Vick has certainly benefited from that. Vick is coming off of a disappointing season for the Eagles but has played well to start the season.

Since his days back at Virginia Tech, Vick has always possessed devastating speed. His speed has been burning defenses for a long time now, and it appears that he has found that speed once again. Kelly has brought a quick, fast pace offense and Vick has been taking advantage of it. He has 77 rushing yards an 2 rushing touchdowns so far on the year. The read-option is what has helped make the Eagles so successful so far, and Vick is looking like his old self.

Michael Vick has been criticized for his arm strength over his entire career, but this year that has changed. No one is critiquing his arm or making comments because it has been explosive. Vick has torched defenses for 631 yards and 4 touchdowns so far in his first 3 games. This past Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, he threw for a career best 428 yards and tossed two touchdowns.

Vick seems to be rejuvenating his career in the NFL, and it is awesome to see as a Virginia Tech fan. Seeing our alums succeed is a great feeling, and makes you feel even better about the program. Hopefully Vick will continue his excellent play tonight against his former Head Coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs.
