Tomorrow, The Virginia Tech Hokies will face off against the Eastern Carolina University Pirates. Virginia Tech grabbed their first victory of the season last week against Western Carolina, and are looking to build on that performance. Tomorrow’s game is expected to be more of a challenge for the Hokies as ECU is 2-0 to start the season. Virginia Tech’s defense will look to dominate once again, but ECU’s offense should not be taken lightly.

Eastern Carolina University has been terrific on the offensive side of the ball. They have scored 83 points in their first two games, and are on a roll. However, they have not seen Virginia Tech yet, who will look to build on their tremendous play on defense. Virginia Tech has been considered as one of the best defenses in the country, and will have to step up once again if the team wants to win two games in a row.

The two teams have had great match-ups over the years, but the Hokies have won 4 of the last 5. Here are some keys to Virginia Tech getting the win. The first is an obvious, and that is that quarterback Logan Thomas must step up. I see myself repeating this constantly, but his play is so important. Thomas has to play well as he is the leader of the offense. The next key is that Trey Edmunds needs to play well once again. He lead the way with J.C. Coleman getting injured once again, and must be a factor once again. Another key factor in tomorrow’s game is that the wide-receivers have to find their stride. They have been incredibly inconsistent so far to start the season, and have to play better. They have played a part in Logan Thomas’ struggles, and have to improve. The last key for the Hokies is that the defense has to continue to play as well as they have. ECU has been unstoppable on offense, and VT must contain them.

With all of those factors considered, I see Virginia Tech getting the win. Logan Thomas should be able to play well, and continue to get his season on track. The running backs have been great, and should have no problem producing once again. The only fear that the Hokies should have is the offense of ECU, but they have the talent and play makers to stop it. Look for Virginia Tech to get the win tomorrow as they travel to Greenville. It will not come easy, but they should be able to pull out the win. The game starts at 12:00, and can be seen on FOX Sports 1.
