Virginia Tech Has New Football Helmets
By Ty Hodges
Today being media day, we should be in for some goodies as the day goes along. Among those goodies will be new helmets for the Hokies annual white effect game.
I got a sneak peek at these helmets yesterday, but they went public today on BeamerBall’s website. I liked the helmets when I saw them yesterday, but the outcry on Twitter has been mostly negative. Take a look for yourself.
The Hokies will be wearing these helmets against Austin Peay, so if you truly are embarrassed by these helmets there’s a good chance that they won’t be seen by too many people watching on ESPN3.
I’m honestly kind of surprised at the backlash on Twitter about these helmets. I’ve heard a lot of people clamoring for new helmets, designs, etc… but I guess beggars can be choosers in this case.
In other uniform news, I got to see the new Virginia Tech camo uniforms in person yesterday as well, and they turned out very nice. I think people are going to be very pleased with them once they actually see more than just a sketch from the Nike website. So if you aren’t a fan of these helmets, take solace in our military appreciation day uniforms. Just trust me on this one.
