Hokie fans, it is that special time of the year where the weather is getting a little milder, the kids are going back to school, and Hokie football returns to Lane Stadium.  The start of the season is full of hope and wonder about our beloved Hokies.  This season starts with a game against a foe from the other side of the Commonwealth, the William and Mary Tribe.

The Hokies take on a smaller school that should be a good warm up for a huge game the following week against the Ohio State Buckeyes.  However, the Hokies have a nasty habit of making games that should be pushovers turn into heart stoppers for fans.  The Hokies need to get off to a good start to the season as well as a good start for new starter Michael Brewer.

Brewer needs to build confidence going into the next week as well as the season in general.  Being a new starter in a new system, it will be interesting to see how well Brewer has grasped the playbook.  Brewer will need to prove he can move the Hokie offense down the field on a consistent basis.

If Brewer can’t move the ball against a defense that is more than likely not on the same level as defenses he will face down the road, the starting job could become a memory for Brewer.
