Tremaine Edmunds has been one of the Hokies’ top targets for a while and that has been constant even with the commitments of OLBs Carson Lydon and Damien Dozier for the Hokies’ Class of 2015. Fans probably recognize the Edmunds family name as Trey and Terrell Edmunds are his older brothers and we have already seen Trey Edmunds be very productive in Blacksburg.

The competition for Tremaine Edmunds has been tough and the Hokies have put a lot of effort into pursuing him. The Hokies entered today’s announcement as the favorite but USC, Maryland, and Wake Forest also were finalists for Edmunds.

Now, Edmunds has made his decision and the news is quite good for the Hokies.

Outside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds of Dan River High School in Ringgold, Virginia will join his brothers in Blacksburg as Edmunds has committed to the Hokies. Edmunds is the tenth commit for the Hokies’ Class of 2015 and is the fifth player from the state of Virginia to commit to the Hokies. Edmunds becomes the Hokies’ ninth defensive player and third linebacker to commit to the Hokies, joining Damien Dozier and Carson Lydon.

Tremaine Edmunds is rated as a three-star recruit by 247 Sports and ESPN, and is a four-star by Rivals. Edmunds is rated as the 15th best player in the state of Virginia by the 247 Sports Composite, 11th best by Rivals, and 26th best by ESPN. Edmunds is also rated as the 15th best OLB by Rivals, the 41st OLB by ESPN, and is 29th among OLBs by the 247 Sports Composite.

Edmunds has very good size at 6-3 and somewhere between 205 and 215 pounds which is a reason why Edmunds has been a high level three-star. Another thing that is rated very high for Edmunds is how he has very good football instincts and that is something that can be hard to find. This combination of great size, instincts, and potential made heavily and makes him a very good addition for the Hokies’ Class of 2015 that has gotten a lot stronger over the last few weeks.
