Tomas Kruzliak: 2014 ACC Men's Field Performer of the Year

The Virginia Tech Hokies’s Men’s Track and Field program had a solid year with plenty of solid contributors who had a lot of success over the course of the indoor and outdoor season. There were plenty of very good athletes including Darrell Weah who was one of the best sprinters in the ACC. However, one sophomore athlete stood out from the rest and earned some major honors from the ACC to add to his other honors.

Tomas Kruzliak might have been disappointed to not defend his national title but he had a strong showing throughout the season and his top 5 in Eugene helped him garner First Team All-American honors. However, Kruzliak has gained more postseason honors as the Slovakian thrower was named the 2014 ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Year which is definitely a major honor for Kruzliak.

Tomas Kruzliak won the ACC Championship this past year and was able to retain this award as there is definitely a chance that Kruzliak could win the ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Year all four years. However, Kruzliak will be inspired by the fact that he was unable to defend his national title in the men’s hammer throw this past year. The Slovakian thrower has proven to be one of the best athletes ever for the Virginia Tech program and could go down as the Hokies’ best thrower.

For now, we can enjoy how good Tomas Kruzliak has been for Virginia Tech along with how he only just finished his sophomore year.
