Antone Exum might have missed most of this past season for the Hokies but Exum is definitely a guy that is drawing tons of interest in this year’s NFL Draft. Antone Exum had a great 2012 season in which he had 5 interceptions as a cornerback along with having a total of 21 pass deflections. If Exum would have been healthy this season, he could have had a chance for a big season and the chance to make a run at being a first round pick. However, Exum could end up at safety with his quality tackling and ball hawking skills but Exum’s versatility overall appeals to teams. So, which teams could end up targeting Antone Exum tonight and tomorrow?

Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins could use some help in the secondary and with their very high fourth round pick, Antone Exum could be a target there or the Redskins could take him somewhere in the third round. Exum has the versatility to play some safety but could also be a nickel cornerback depending on the health of DeAngelo Hall. Exum is a long term guy that could work his way up in the next year or two to being a starter next to David Amerson. Antone Exum is definitely a possibility for the Redskins if he is there at the beginning of the fourth round.

San Diego Chargers

The San Diego Chargers might have gotten Jason Verrett but the Chargers need more than just Verrett at cornerback in what is a very weak unit in a division with the Denver Broncos and their strong receiving corps. Antone Exum could have a chance to come in early on in his career and battle for a starting spot though the spot as the nickel cornerback seems more likely. Exum’s ball-hawking skills could fit well in San Diego and he could be used as a third safety on some plays. The Chargers are definitely a team that could be one to watch that could take Antone Exum in the late third round.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers love having tough, physical cornerbacks and with having two third round picks tonight along with taking Ryan Shazier last night, the Steelers could be the team that takes Antone Exum. Exum is another tough, physical cornerback that might not be an immediate starter but could definitely be a guy that gets some time as a nickel cornerback. After a year, there is definitely a good chance that Exum could be a starter for the Steelers. Exum could also move to safety and be groomed as a replacement for Troy Polamalu.  Pittsburgh is definitely a team to watch in the late third round as a possible destination for Antone Exum.
