Today was a big day for the Hokies as the 2014 ACC schedule was announced with all Hokie fans hoping that Thursday Night Football would return to Blacksburg. Many Hokies’ fans will be celebrating the schedule announcement as the Hokies will have the national spotlight on them a lot during the middle of the season. Of course, we already knew that the Hokies would travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State on the first Saturday of September in what will be a major game for the Hokies. We also already knew that the Hokies would open the season at home against William & Mary, play East Carolina at home on September 13th, and host Western Michigan on September 27th.

The Hokies will make their first appearance on Thursday Night Football on ESPN when Virginia Tech travels to Heinz Field to take on Pittsburgh which could be a tough game. The following week, Thursday Night Football returns to Blacksburg with the Hokies taking on rivals Miami in what is going to be a massive game for the Hokies on Thursday Night. The Hokies will open their ACC conference schedule at home on September 20th when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets make the trip to Lane Stadium. The Hokies will face a tough trip the week after the Western Michigan game to Chapel Hill against a very good North Carolina Tar Heels’ team.

One thing that might be a major surprise is the fact that the Hokies will play Virginia on the Friday and not the Saturday after Thanksgiving at Lane Stadium in a game that seems likely to be on ESPN or ABC. This game had been a constant on the Saturday after Thanksgiving so it is disappointing that it will be on Black Friday this upcoming season. The Hokies will face a tough challenge on November 15th when Virginia Tech travels to Wallace Wade Stadium to take on a reviatlized Duke football program. The Hokies will also face Boston College on November 1st and Wake Forest on November 22nd. The Hokies will be off the week before they travel to Pittsburgh and and in between the Boston College and Duke games.

What do you think about the Hokies 2014 ACC schedule?
