#14 Virginia Tech Vs. Duke Game Preview

Virginia Tech comes into Saturday’s contest seeking their 7th win in a row. The Hokies also come into the game at their highest ranking of the season at 14th in the country. How has Virginia Tech moved up into the national ranks you may ask? Well, it has been a mix of terrific play from Logan Thomas, and the scary defensive unit. Virginia Tech has coasted through the ACC thus far, and should have no issue doing so once again come tomorrow afternoon.

Virginia Tech is relying heavily on Logan Thomas. Thomas had been the leader, and is regaining NFL appeal. He has been dynamic by torching defenses with his arm, and legs. We say this every week, but Thomas really is the focal point of the offense. How he plays, usually determines the outcome of the game. He will once again have to be affective against Duke to make up for the poor rushing attack.

The defense could very well have a field day tomorrow. They have played extremely well against tough opponents, which means tomorrow could be an easy day for the Hokies. Also, Antone Exum returns to the line-up, who is guaranteed to be an impact player right off the bat. The Hokies defense is dangerous, and they will look to take advantage of Duke early and often.

Now it is time to address the Duke Blue Devils. Offensively, here are their ranks. Duke is 40th in country in passing yards with 269.4 per game, and 52nd in the country in rushing yards with 182.7. They really don’t match up to the opponents the Hokies have faced, and don’t have many weapons. On the defensive side of the ball, they allow 24.7 points per game, so this is a perfect opportunity for the Hokies running backs to try and get back on their feet.

Virginia Tech should easily roll Duke for their 7th win in a row. Logan Thomas should dominate, and the running backs could find their groove. As for the defense, the Blue Devils more than likely will not present many problems, which will lead to more turnovers. I am predicting an easy win for the Hokies. Final score Virginia Tech 24 Duke 10.
